Deira, Bur Dubai and the Creek
The old city, the gold and spice souks and the abra crossings are best explored on foot in the cooler hours. Many visitors on a stopover come straight here from the airport, hours before they can check in anywhere.
Coming soon · Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Dubai is one of the cities Tanana is preparing for, and it is not open yet. There is no Tanana location in the emirate and nothing on this page can be booked. Dubai's long layovers and outdoor heat make luggage a specific kind of problem, so this page sets out where storage will help and how it will work once we can offer it honestly.
Bookings are not available in Dubai yet. Tanana's only bookable locations are in Malmö, Sweden.
Dubai is long and linear, built along Sheikh Zayed Road and the metro's Red Line. These are the areas travellers ask about — none of them has a Tanana location today.
The old city, the gold and spice souks and the abra crossings are best explored on foot in the cooler hours. Many visitors on a stopover come straight here from the airport, hours before they can check in anywhere.
Burj Khalifa, the fountains and the mall itself take most of a day, and large luggage is impractical inside a building of that size. Stopover travellers heading downtown are the clearest use case for storage in the city.
The Marina walk and the beach are outdoor, sandy and hot. Anyone arriving before a hotel check-in or staying on after check-out needs their bags out of the way first.
Dubai is a global connecting hub, and layovers long enough to leave the airport are common. Storage near a Red Line station is what makes a six- or ten-hour layover usable.
Dubai's heat is the practical argument. For much of the year, moving between the metro, a taxi and an air-conditioned building is tiring on its own; doing it while dragging suitcases is worse.
The city is also one of the world's biggest transfer points, and many visitors are there for a single long layover rather than a stay. Without a hotel room, there is nowhere to put a bag while seeing the Creek or Downtown.
Distances are large and split between the old city and the newer waterfront districts. Storage close to the metro means the trip between them can be made once, without luggage, rather than planned around it.
The service will follow the same rules as in Malmö. It is not available in Dubai yet.
A Dubai location will be published here — with its address, opening hours and accepted bag sizes — only once it is confirmed and bookable.
Drop-off and pickup times will be limited to the venue's real opening hours in local time, so a booking can never land while the venue is closed.
Staff will match your booking reference, label your bags and keep them in a staff-only storage area until pickup.
