Luggage storage in Stockholm — coming soon

Stockholm is one of the cities we are working to open next. There is no Tanana location here yet and nothing on this page can be booked. What follows is an honest picture of where storage will be useful in a city spread across fourteen islands, and what to do in the meantime.

Bookings are not available in Stockholm yet. Tanana is currently bookable only in Malmö.

Planned coverage

Where travellers look for bag storage in Stockholm

Stockholm's geography makes luggage a bigger problem than in most capitals: the sights are split across islands connected by bridges, ferries and stairs. These are the areas visitors ask about most.

Stockholm Central and T-Centralen

The Arlanda Express, regional trains, the metro and the airport coaches all meet here. Travellers arriving early or leaving late almost always start their search in this block, and it is the first area we are looking at.

Gamla Stan and Slussen

The old town is narrow, cobbled and full of steps, and the walk between Gamla Stan and Slussen is one of the most photographed in Sweden. It is also the least suitcase-friendly part of the city.

Djurgården and the museum island

The Vasa Museum, Skansen and ABBA The Museum are a half-day on their own, reached by tram or ferry. Museums restrict large bags, so travellers heading there generally need somewhere else to leave them.

Södermalm and the archipelago quays

Södermalm is a walking and viewpoint neighbourhood, and the archipelago boats leave from Strömkajen and Nybroplan. A day trip to Vaxholm or Grinda is far easier without a wheeled bag on the deck.

Travel context

Why luggage storage is useful in Stockholm

Stockholm is an island city, and moving between its parts means bridges, ferries, escalators and stairs. Anything you are carrying you carry the whole day, and the distances look shorter on a map than they feel with a suitcase.

It is also a hub for onward travel: night trains north, ferries east to Finland and the Baltics, and archipelago boats in summer. Those departures rarely line up neatly with hotel check-out times.

Many Stockholm attractions — museums, viewpoints, boats — either restrict large luggage or make it genuinely impractical. Somewhere central to leave bags for the day is what makes a stopover in Stockholm worth taking.

After launch

How Tanana will work in Stockholm after launch

This is the same flow already running in Malmö. It is not yet available in Stockholm.

  1. 1

A confirmed location, published with real details

When a Stockholm venue is confirmed, its address, opening hours and accepted bag sizes will be published here — and only then will the booking form accept Stockholm.

  2. 2

Choose times the venue is actually open

As in Malmö, drop-off and pickup times will be limited to the venue's real opening hours, in local time, so a booking can never fall outside them.

  3. 3

Labelled bags in a staff-only area

Bags will be labelled against your booking reference and kept in a staff-only storage area until you collect them.
